LSUS Debate Teams Sets Record; Regains National Lead
The LSU Shreveport Debate Team regained the lead in the International Public Debate Association national rankings with their win at the LSU Alexandria Big Oak Championship Debate Tournament on March 16-18, 2012.
LSUS had the top speaker in each division. Out of the 14 debate members entered in the tournament, 13 advanced to the elimination rounds, while six members made it to the individual semifinal rounds in the three divisions of debate. Overall, the team earned 83 wins with 38 losses.
LSUS debaters Jason Mazur, Julian Lawrence and Hayden Wallace were recognized for their successes, respectively, in the professional, novice and varsity divisions of the tournament.
