LSU President Comments in Departure of LSUA Chancellor
LSUA Chancellor Dave Manuel
LSU System President Dr. William L. Jenkins on Wednesday issued the following statement in connection with the naming of LSU Alexandria Chancellor Dave Manuel to be the new president of Drury University in Springfield, Mo.
Here is the text of Dr. Jenkins’ statement:
“Everyone within the LSU System congratulates Chancellor Manuel on being named President of Drury University. As an avid proponent of liberal arts education, Dr. Manuel is the perfect fit as the new leader of an institution known for its high-achieving students, varied academic programs, and family atmosphere. We will miss Dr. Manuel, who came to LSU Alexandria in 2008 at a time when higher education statewide dealt with successive budget cuts. Despite challenging times, Dr. Manuel proved to be a durable leader who avoided faculty and staff layoffs while expanding LSUA’s fundraising activities by personally working hard through multiple outreach efforts to build the campus endowment. Because Dr. Manuel’s resignation is effective May 31st, we have time to work with the LSU Board of Supervisors as well as the LSUA faculty, staff, students and stakeholders to make sure we provide for a careful transition while conducting a thoughtful search to find the best person available to be LSU Alexandria’s next chief executive. We wish Dr. Manuel, his wife, Betty, and their children the very best on behalf of a grateful LSU community.”
