Streamlining, Commercialization & External Affairs Task Force Groups to Meet Thursday; Live Streaming Available

The second meetings of three task force groups of the Transition Advisory Team will take place Thursday, April 11, at the LSU AgCenter. The task force groups are part of the LSU 2015 process for the reorganization of LSU. The meetings will be streamed live via the Internet at www.lsu.edu/tat.

The Streamlining Procedures, Rules and Regulations Task Force will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon; the Commercialization and Technology Transfer Task Force will meet from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.; and the External Affairs Task Force will meet from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. All three meetings will be held in room 212 of Efferson Hall at the LSU AgCenter.

The Streamlining Procedures, Rules and Regulations Task Force is investigating paper flow, process, authority, and accountability including the by-laws of the Board of Supervisors, presidential memorandums and campus policy statements.
The task force this week will hear recommendations for processing personnel transactions from Ann Coulon, vice chancellor for administration at the LSU AgCenter, and Gena Doucet, director of human resource management for the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Also, Todd Barre’, director of Budget and Institutional Research for the LSU AgCenter, will review selected Presidential Memoranda.

The Commercialization and Technology Transfer Task Force is focusing on removing barriers, stimulating discovery and increasing deal flow. By-laws of the LSU Board of Supervisors, external reports, pre-angel capital and research of communication best practices are being reviewed.

The task force this week will hear a presentation from Jason El Koubi, assistant secretary for Louisiana Economic Development, on LED’s statewide efforts, while Arthur Cooper, executive director of LSU’s Research and Technology Foundation, will lead a discussion on that foundation.

The External Affairs Task Force is reviewing policy communication, coordination, and branding focusing on governmental relations, message development and marketing, and production/back-office functions.

The task force on Friday will hear from Frankie Gould, director of publications and communications for the LSU AgCenter, on the AgCenter’s communications program, while Herb Vincent, associate vice chancellor for Communications & University Relations at LSU, will lead a discussion on the inventory of campus communications capabilities and resources in the LSU System. Bill Sylvia, co-chair of the task force, will initiate a discussion about coordinating and developing communications strategies among the System campuses.
