Chancellor candidates for LSU Alexandria Scheduled for Interviews
ALEXANDRIA, LA – A nationwide search for the next chancellor of LSU Alexandria has resulted in three finalists.
Dr. Daniel Howard, Dr. Andrew Leavitt, and Dr. Luoluo Hong will be in Alexandria for interviews beginning next week. Howard is a tenured full professor at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas, who has served as its Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost, and as interim Chancellor. Leavitt is Vice-President for University Advancement and professor of chemistry at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Georgia. Hong is Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and a tenured associate professor of public health leadership and education at the University of Hawaii at Hilo in Hilo, Hawaii.
The new chancellor will replace Dr. Paul Coreil who has served as interim since February 2013.
In addition to a tour of the campus and community, the candidates will meet with the interim chancellor and the vice chancellors along with conducting a forum with LSUA faculty and staff. The candidates will also interview with Dr. F. King Alexander, LSU System President and Chancellor.
The search for a new chancellor is being led by a committee comprised of LSUA faculty, staff and students along with leaders of the central Louisiana community. It is co-chaired by Dr. Haywood Joiner, Chair of LSU Alexandria’s Department of Allied Health and Interim Chair for the Department of Business Administration, and LSUA Foundation Board Chairman Charles Weems III.
“We had an excellent field of applicants and the search committee did a great job in narrowing the field to three outstanding candidates. The committee is excited that Dr. Howard, Dr. Leavitt and Dr. Hong will be in our community next week for final interviews, and looks forward to the selection of a new chancellor for LSUA,” says Weems.
Once the interviews conclude, Dr. Alexander will recommend a candidate and the LSU Board of Supervisors will appoint a new chancellor.
