Scott Anthony Angelle
Scott Anthony Angelle is a Breaux Bridge native from St. Martin Parish and a Louisiana Public Service Commissioner from District 2. Angelle also served six months as interim Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana in 2010. He was nominated by Governor Bobby Jindal to represent Louisiana’s 3rd congressional district on the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University.
Before entering public service, Angelle, a University of Louisiana Lafayette graduate, had a career specializing in mineral research, working on acquisition and management of oil and gas leases, and landowner issues.
Angelle parlayed that career into a distinguished new one in public service to the citizens of Louisiana as secretary of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources under both Governors Kathleen Blanco and Bobby Jindal. He served in this capacity for eight years, with the exception of his six-month interim appointment as the state’s lieutenant governor.
In his current capacity as public service commissioner, Angelle has vowed to “fight to make sure [Louisianans] have the reliable, low-cost energy we need to grow and prosper in our state and nation.” He has stated that protecting consumers is his top priority and that he will use his knowledge of the energy industry to be the best public service commissioner possible.
Having served more than 16 years in local government, Angelle was also once a member of the St. Martin Parish Police Jury and was the first parish president of St. Martin Parish.
Angelle currently lives in Breaux Bridge with his wife of 26 years, Dianne. They are the parents of five and grandparents of twin granddaughters.
