General Counsel
The General Counsel is the chief legal adviser to the System President and LSU Board of Supervisors. Duties include:
- Review of all System legal contracts and legal matters
- Preparing reports and rendering advice and counsel on matters pending before the Board, including changes in Board By-Laws, proposed projects at System campuses and hospitals and pending or active litigation involving the University
The Office of General Counsel also supervises the employment of outside counsel. PM-72 regulates that process. Contracted counsel are subject to Guidelines issued by the Office of General Counsel.
The Guidelines are available here: LSU Outside Counsel Guidelines.pdf
